There are lots of great Paracord projects over on Instructables, and we’ve featured quite a few of them here before (see below), but this one from Harlan Whitman caught my eye, both because of the great job Harlan does presenting the technique, and because of the great-looking results he gets on this camp axe, which he made himself.

New York entrepreneur John Vaccaro bought a bunch of Bernie Madoff’s expensive tailored clothing at the federal auction of Madoff’s property in November, 2010, and has resewn them into iPad covers, which he is selling (at rather luxurious prices) through his recently-launched clothing label Frederick James.
Besides making interesting intellectual problems, zipper unfoldings have many cool potential crafty applications as purses, bags, pillows, etc. With sufficiently rigid or reinforced fabric and the right shape, one might even make a zip-up chair, stool, table, or other furniture this way.

Cross Stitch Ninja, an author on the amazing (and delightfully revolutionary) blogradicalcrossstitch.com is learning textile engineering. How cool is that?!?! The owl fabric that she recently created is mind blowing. I can hardly set an alarm clock, let alone program a loom to weave a pattern based on a vintage cross-stitch! Well done.
Spinning for them is like breathing. It’s a reflex. The two learned to spin by chance, at Knit Out, an event in Washington D.C. They were taught by some Mennonites who were teaching and demonstrating at the event. Buck and Greg loved it, and have since dedicated their time to learning and preserving the history and methods of fiber arts.
