iPhone controlled LED suit

Miami Maker Marc DeVidts just sent word about his fantastic iPhone controlled LED suit that he recently wore to Dragon*Con 2010 in Atlanta. From the looks of it Marc has created an undergarment that contains an array of multicolored LEDs that, when worn under light-colored clothing, shine through to create a unique diffused display across his entire body. To top it off, he’s made the whole setup configurable from his iPhone.

Hacker Trifecta: iPad, Arduino, kegerator combined in single device

John Boiles, whose extracurricular exploits as an undergraduate at UT Austin brought us iPhone-controlled dance floor lights, R/C cars, and yes, even full-size automobiles, has since moved to San Francisco and scored a job with Yelp. His latest “spare time” project, with the Yelp Engineering crew, is KegMate–a keg-mounted, Arduino-controlled data-logging suite with an iPad-based user interface. Among other features, the system reports and records the keg temperature, tracks which of its registered users is dispensing beer and how much they’ve dispensed, and collects user ratings of whatever brew happens to be on tap. [Thanks, John!]

Retro TV iPad dock

The perfect accessory for zoning out to Netflix with, this oddly appropriate iPad dock modeled after an early ’80s CRT television set was designed by Jonas Damon, creative director for Frog Design’s New York office. It comes complete with grainy television snow screensaver, though a scrambled pay TV signal would add a touch more realism if I recall correctly.
