This Weekend: Bilbao Mini Maker Faire
Barcelona held a mini Maker Faire last month and this weekend Bilbao is holding its first mini Maker Faire July 13-14. Way to go, Spain!
Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth — a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the maker movement.
Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these people come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.

Barcelona held its first mini maker faire June 29 and by all accounts the event was a hit.
“Wow,” said event co-organizer Ian Collingwood. “We had an incredible turnout of visitors and some really inspiring makers showing really cool stuff. We were all of us walking around on a high the whole day. Big smiles on our faces and a recognition that all the stress and hard work getting the show together in just five months was worth it.”
The Maker Faire Rome crew got a chance to watch the boards being produced. I’d love to check it out in person some day! I really like the interview with Davide Gomba, who does a great job of explaining the Arduino movement and the Maker movement as well.
