Maker Faire

Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth — a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the maker movement.

Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these people come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.

On cloud nine: Maker Faire Bay Area 2010 video

I met Kent Weakley and his son Lucas at Maker Faire this year — a couple of really nice guys who were there a day early with their booster tickets. Lucas helped me put together some of my projects while Kent set out with video camera in hand to capture the sights and sounds of the Faire. A few short days after it was over I got an email from Kent with an amazing video he had cut together. This is a wonderful peek into the world of Maker Faire.

ArcAttack! musical tesla coils
