Today on Maker Camp: Playing With Plastic and Raspberry Pi

Today’s Maker Camp is another twofer. Starting at 11am PDT, we’re going to talk about vacuum forming, a process in which a sheet of warmed thermoplastic is shaped by placing it in a mold and applying suction. Today, maker Adam Harris will show us the useful technique using a humble jar of peanut butter. But wait! There’s more. After the morning hangout we’re going to check in with Raspberry Pi guru and MAKE contributing editor Matt Richardson at 1pm EST for a special Pi workshop.

The theme of this week is Make Believe and to get started we’re going to hangout with master costume and prop builder Shawn Thorrson at 11am PST who will show us how to make a prop hammer out of casting foam. For added inspiration, he’ll also he showing off some of the amazing props he’s created. Then at 1pm PST we’re going to hangout with Ayah Bdeir, founder and CEO of littleBits. She will lead a special Make: Believe HOA demonstrating how littleBits can help anyone use electronics to bring imagination to life.
