‘Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the land, all the makers were sawing and brazing and shaping by hand…And taking pictures, right? I know all your gift projects are classified TOP SECRET//SI-GAMMA 459-CANOE/TALENT KEYHOLE-LANTERN//NOFORN, but I hope you are remembering, nonetheless, to snap some tasty work-in-progress shots to go along with the inevitable proud trophy pics. And I trust that, the first week of the new year, the MAKE Flickr pool will be exploding with post-Festivus cheer. Not that we haven’t got some great eye-candy, right now…

Our featured image from the MAKE Flickr pool this week is Pete Prodoehl’s lovely shot of his MakerGear Prusa Mendel printer frame. It looks like a piece of pricey Danish furniture! It was a hard choice, for me, between that and Rob Hopeless’s photograph of the transparent Venus de Milo bust he recently printed on his homemade stereolithography system.

I had a sense, as early as Tuesday, that it was going to be a yellow kind of week, and sure enough, the MAKE Flickr pool has proved it out. And though yellow has lots of negative connotations, it happens to be my favorite color, probably because it reminds of me construction equipment and power tools. Oh, and flowers. I have credible reports from people who have actually seen nature that flowers are sometimes yellow, too.

Owwwww, my head. I am still recovering from what will almost certainly be the best Elevensday celebration of my life. Unless I make it to 11/11/2111, that is. Fingers crossed. Anyway, to commemorate the event, and because Gronk think rainbows pretty, our featured image this week is johngineer’s 11.11.11. But it was a hard choice, because…

This week’s MAKE Flickr pool roundup is full of great Halloween memories. Our featured image, recalling Wednesday’s Cardboard Clone Trooper, is an equally-impressive cardboard Master Chief costume from user jek in the box. For sheer comedy value, my personal fave is user Unconverted’s QR code costume, lowermost, followed in close second by hine’s costume squid hat. And, somehow, to me, Chris Connors’ untitled skull-scrubbing shot sums up the maker Halloween experience quite nicely.
