Mike grew up building treehouses, catapults, and other 2×4 contraptions in Tiverton, Rhode Island, where he and his friends launched the autonomous boat Scout on its
2013 transatlantic attempt. Mike now lives in San Diego and works with his friends on robots full time, but still loves a good old-fashioned 2×4 project.
