Google Talk – Debian users…

Talk Logo-1-1-2 Google talk for Debian folks…my prefered client CenterICQ [centericq.org] wouldn’t connect to Google’s servers. It turned out that the client decided to ignore the server setting if a login was specified as user@domain. I’ve made a patch, which remedies this error. After applying this patch the client will honour the choice of server eventhough user@domain is specified as a login. I’ve sent the patch to the CenterICQ author and the maintainer of the Debian GNU/Linux [debian.org] package (read the update) Link.

Podcasting news…

Makeaud-1-1It’s been an interesting week for the world of DIY audio -podcasting. A couple new issues have presented themselves, the first- it seems Feedburner gave out the number of subscribers to “This Week in Tech’s” show. Leo, the show’s host, says is against the privacy policy and also wrong Link. The second is PodShow’s policy on music licensing as covered on BoingBoing, it appears to prohibit you from referencing “software piracy (warez, cracking, etc.), hacking, phreaking, emulators, ROM’s, or illegal MP3 activity” in your shows Link. Opinions?

Sony’s secret PSP portal?

Sony’s secret PSP portal?

Psp2-1-1
Here’s what seems to be a new portal from Sony for your PSP. It’s called “Test Page – Replace once site is confirmed working” so it doesn’t seem final- there are videos, wallpapers and a few other things to play around with- the links Sony has for news, tech and more are a bit bizarre, but perhaps that’s going to change. I still haven’t updated to the 2.0 firmware, but you can view it via a normal web browser. Link.
