Rockstar Robots make up the cream of the crop in the world of robotics. These are the bots that will turn heads with just their name being uttered. Even those who don’t stay on top of who’s making what should recognize a famous robot or two when they see it. For the month of May, […]
Daniel Albert set out to show that it is possible to build a full size biped that can walk for well under $10,000. He’s trying to beat the odds and compete against the big guys at the DARPA Robotics Challenge.
Help NASA find all asteroid threats to human populations and know what to do about them.
DARPA has been working on a few impressive humanoid robots for the past few years. As before, they’re collaborating with Boston Dynamics to develop the ATLAS humanoid, and they’ve clearly come a long way since developing it’s younger sibling, the Pet-Proto. Unlike Pet-Proto, the 74″ ATLAS has arms with modular wrists, giving it near-human anthropometry.
The aim of DARPA’s Tactically Expandable Maritime Platform is to link shipping containers to form whatever shape you desire – useful for emergency helicopter landings or creating platforms for crane use. The GRASP Lab at UPenn, which is famous for their use of quadrotors, has taken the lead on research for the project.
