Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these peopleย come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.

The second Columbus Mini Maker Faire gets underway this coming Sunday, from noon to 6pm at the Center of Science and Industry (COSI).
Groningen’s second Mini Maker Faire is set for Oct. 12.
Makers from The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium will all get together in the Ebbingekwartier of the student city of Groningen. Visitors can try their hands on making with tens of workshops, listen to maker talks and watching the spectacular Maker Challenge (think Scrapheap Challenge).
Maker Faire Rome’s second day was just as full of energy and wizardry as the first day. A woman visiting from Barcelona said to me that just walking inside gave her goosebumps. The makers, the guests, the organizers all came together to create a fully charged event that left people wanting more.
Perfect weather brought a huge crowd to the Palazzo Congressi in Rome for the second day of Rome Maker Faire: The European Edition. I wandered up and down the marble lined halls of the building and discovered many innovative and pleasingly-designed creations.
The HoneyBee3D retail store opens and joins a very small list of brick and mortar small businesses focusing on digital fabrication. The store offers classes, rapid prototyping, and good old-fashioned hand holding (helping you get your print made, start to finish). It also is a retailer for TypeA Machines.
