Refinery 29 is an epic site for all things fashion, home decor, and thankfully DIY! Their latest video explores the very fun macrame moment that is happening right now and I am excited about it.

There’s something about Britain, it’s the land of God’s own hobbyists. The Makers of Things is a short film collection by Anne Hollowday documenting the work and workshops of the Society for Model and Experimental Engineers. While today we hackerspaces, makerspaces and fab labs, back in the 1800’s they had the learned society.
This building on Governor’s Island, near New York City, is going to be imploded tomorrow morning (Sunday, June 9th) around 7:30am, and we at Make have been offered the chance to have someone there to video the event. If you have a good video camera, some mad skillz, and the desire to witness epic destruction, we’d love to have you shoot the event for the Make blog. Drop us a line at editors@makezine.com and we’ll get you connected.
Anyone who has kids will, at one time or another, point a video camera (or smartphone) at them and make a little home movie. But how about getting kids involved in making movies? Bianca Giaever doesn’t have kids, but the young filmmaker has created a great short film called “The Scared is Scared,” based on a story invented by a six-year-old boy named Asa. Bianca’s questions and Asa’s often flip-flopping, cute-as-can-be answers form the narration of the movie. Bianca takes Asa’s imaginative story and brings it to life as he tells it. It’s clever, funny, and poignant. She offers advice on how to go about making a movie with kids.
I am loving Corinne Leigh’s most recent episode of Recreate on About.com where she visits the fabulous and stylish Justina Blakeney. Justina’s “jungalow” is endlessly inspiring and together they show us how to make our own customizable hanging planters. What an awesome project to do to prepare for spring!
Kelly Cheatle and Larry Moss are always up to something new and awesome, but this Oreogami Oreo animation video definitely takes the cake…er, cookie!
Got a robot on the web? Consider adding it to Livebots.cc, which aggregates UStream feeds from multiple robots that allow visitors to control them through the web. The “hand” robot in the image above was built by the site operator, Navic, who documented instructions on how to build the hand-bot. [via Guilherme Martins]
