In the Makers Market: LED hula hoop kits
prodmod_hoop.JPG
From seller ProdMod, this cool kit for making your own color-changing LED hula hoop that collapses for storage like a band-saw blade:
Use this kit in combination with 10.5 feet of tubing (sold separately) to build your own LED hoop. This is the easiest of my kits to assemble. The battery lasts about 5 hours of continuous use, and can be easily replaced for a new one. This kit includes: One Lithium Battery, 12 feet of paired wire, One Slide Switch, One Tube Connector, 21 LEDs.
A rechargeable hoop kit is also available, which includes a rechargeable battery, a charger, and an integral charging jack to install in the hoop.
This beautiful rattle is such a perfect present for baby’s first Easter basket. And, it’s made by Woman Woodworker, who has, according to her etsy storefront “some skills and a garage full of power tools.”

This makes the design ideal for puzzling in the dark (which I did) but also as an enhancement for the visually-impaired without sacrificing usability for the sighted.
Check out Jess Gibson’s rather excellent documentary which takes a deeper look at the avid community of grown-ups who enjoy building in colorful plastic brick. Maybe I’m a bit out of touch here but – do some people really consider an interest in LEGO something to be a shamed of nowadays? Guess I’d assumed we […]
