PBS’s site has a neat game where you listen to retro game sounds and try to guess which game they’re from. I got 15 out of 18, a couple of the games I never played back then or ROM now. This would be a fun category for Jeopardy. The site also has some other retro game trivia too. Link.
Some good news, hopefully in a few weeks we’ll be able to run our own apps on the new firmware – Some very interesting things going on in the PSP hacking world. It would seem that someone has gotten the DATA.PSP files from the various update EBOOT.PBP files decrypted. This is the next step in unlocking the secrets of the PSP’s firmware. How to flash/re-flash, and modifying firmware files to suit individual hacker’s needs, etc… Link.

That is a lot of games…There are 1313 NES games (82 boxed and 54 complete), 530 SNES games (38 boxed and 27 complete), and 237 N64 games (10 complete and 8 boxed). That comes out to somewhere around 2,080 games!!! They are all listed below but I’ll highlight a few of the more valuable ones. Very clever…simple, customisable, do-it-yourself signage system. By “blacking out” elements of a 14-segment display font on the tape, all you need is a black permanent pen to create your own temporary signs, labels and installations. Think moving house and labelling boxes, putting up official-looking signs or teaching your kids how to make letters. [via] Link.
TI Calculator enthusiasts rejoice. A few weeks ago, Dan Englender released a new flash application usb8x. Usb8x is a driver that interfaces with the On-the-Go USB port in the TI-84 Plus and TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. It is designed to be used by other programmers to create drivers for a variety of USB peripherals, including a keyboard and mouse. Link.
In Vietnam, there is a shortage of endoscopes, with normally only one in each province. A hospital doctor in the poor rural area around the Mekong Delta in Vietnam has used his PC and some cheap parts to create a homemade endoscope. Thanks Ewan! Link.
