These impossibly creepy artifacts are dental training mannequins collected by Steve Erenberg of Radio Guy. Be warned, Steve’s site is chockablock with incredible medical, scientific, and industrial antiques he’s collected, mostly from the 19th and early 20th centuries, and is a major click-trap.
This has to be my favorite iPhone stand to date. Its simple one piece design is easy to fabricate and lays flat when not in use.
Adobe has released a version of their Photoshop.com Mobile app for the iPhone. It’s not the full-featured professional software known for it’s reality altering effects, but rather a slimmed-down version compatible with their photoshop.com service.
Finnish computer science doctoral candidate Cessu created a hack to make music from (dramatically slowed) bit-level operations in his CPU. A similar technique called “software visualization” is more commonly used to clarify the operation of complex algorithms for educational and analytical purposes, but Cessu seems to be the first person to try it with sound. Motorola’s new Android UI has been ported to the HTC G1. The accompanying video of the unofficial build shows off many of the user enhancements shipping with the newer Motorola Android based phones.
Saw one of these on Burnet Rd. in Austin today. It’s a Piaggio MP3. Apparently the wheels “loosen up” at speed to allow for cornering, but are stiff at idle so you don’t have to hold the bike up with your legs. There are, supposedly, other advantages as well. I’m no bike expert, but it seems like an interesting novelty. Glad, as always, of comments from those in the know.
The newest RepRap, RepRap Version II “Mendel”, will be released very shortly. Here is a video of it working. It is both bigger and smaller than RepRap Version I “Darwin”: it can make bigger things, but the machine itself is physically much smaller.
