The laser microscope builds keep rolling in! This one from reader Steve Davee may not look like much, but it gets the job done with stuff you’ve probably got in your desk right now. The binder clip serves triple-duty by propping the laser pointer up at an angle, holding the button down, and supporting the bent paper clip that holds the sample drop out front in a loop. Folks looking for a good looking stylus for their tablet/smartphone will love this variation on the standard capacitive touch stylus. Designer and mobile UX pro Craig Villamor whipped together this handsome stainless steel sharpie mod by gutting the refill housing with a drill bit and cramming a Pogo Sketch stylus in the remaining cavity. Conceivably one could forego the additional stylus and just use some conductive foam.
