Here at MAKE we have decided to transform the Your Comments column into Your Projects. We love hearing what you have to say, but also love seeing what you’re making! These projects from our readers come from the MAKE Google+ Community and beyond.
MAKE Magazine and 17-year-old Lucas Weakley have teamed up to bring you Maker Hangar and a 15-episode tutorial series on Google+ that will teach you everything you need to know to build and fly a custom RC plane, the Maker Trainer.
Day 2 of Maker Camp continues with the theme of “makers in motion.” We have a couple airborne projects today for different maker skill levels. The first project is an Easy Balloon Blimp that costs about a dollar to build. Or for something a little more advanced, you can try the Folding Wing Glider which goes up like a rocket, deploys wings, and then glides gently to the ground.
Maker Camp kicked off today and each day of the six-week virtual summer camp we’re holding a giveaway on MAKE’s Google+ Maker Camp community page. The first lucky winner is: Penny Jackson. She won the Ultimate Arduino Microcontroller Pack from the Maker Shed.
All systems are go here at Maker Camp HQ. We kick off six weeks of projets and fun this Monday, July 8 on Google+. But the lively community of young makers on the Maker Camp community isn’t waiting until Monday to start making. The number of projects posted to the page grows by the hours. Here are a handful of projects that caught my eye.
New for Maker Camp this year is our maker affiliate program. Campers can seek out Maker Camp affiliate sites in their local communities (libraries, makerspaces, schools, museums) where they can join their peers and participate in Maker Camp at a physical location. MAKE will provide a “playbook” with suggested curriculum by week, special events, and materials list to complete the recommended projects. Affiliates also get other freebies like posters, postcards, t-shirts, stickers, and buttons. The Maker Camp website will include a mapping tool to help campers find local affiliates in their community.
MAKE is teaming up with Google again for our 2nd annual Maker Camp July 6-Aug. 16 — a virtual summer camp that features six weeks of projects, making, field trips, and fun for teens hosted on Google+. And we need your help to round out our roster of fun loving, energetic makers.
