Retro TV iPad dock

Retro TV iPad dock

The perfect accessory for zoning out to Netflix with, this oddly appropriate iPad dock modeled after an early ’80s CRT television set was designed by Jonas Damon, creative director for Frog Design’s New York office. It comes complete with grainy television snow screensaver, though a scrambled pay TV signal would add a touch more realism if I recall correctly.

Good-looking Ikeahacked speakers

Good-looking Ikeahacked speakers

Inspired by the classic spherical speaker array Instructable from user mzed, Charles Visnic created these cool wireless speakers by transplanting the guts of a pair of RocketFish speakers into some of birch bowls from Ikea, mounted rim-to-rim. It’s a very cool build, but I have to say I’m just as impressed with this clever little working tip from Charles’ write-up:

Tattooed Lego minifigs

Tattooed Lego minifigs

This is a viral marketing campaign for some kind of extra-fine point Pilot pen. I love the minifigs themselves, but the campaign bugs me for a couple of reasons: 1) I’ve been Googling around pretty hard and can’t seem to figure out exactly which of Pilot’s many pens these photos are promoting, and 2) nowhere does it explicitly state that the art on the minifigs was actually done with whatever pen they are advertising. So even if I could figure out which one that was, it’s not at all clear that I could actually use it to tattoo my own minifigs. In any case, any kind of super-fine-point permanent maker would probably work. [via Boing Boing]
