Review of SYSTM – Tech Show!

Systm

Mousey the Junkbot Video

Mousey
Here’s a quick video (1.8mb Quicktime) I shot in my kitchen of Mousey the JunkBot (Warning: I am teaching my dog to “get the robot” so you’ll hear that a lot). Mousey’s behavior is fittingly mouse- like. It scoots quickly across the floor, thanks to lively little motors. And when the critter crashes into anything, it speeds off in the opposite direction. If you want to learn more about building your own Mousey (a robot made from a mouse) here’s a PDF preview of what’s in issue 02 of MAKE.

Microwave Melting of Metals

Mv1000 Paul writes “DIY benchtop metal casting. Finally. I was doing some research on liquid-metal-cooled CPUs and video cards when I stumbled upon this gem: With the right susceptor/mold materials, you can cast your own bronze, silver, and potentially ferrous metals in a common microwave. A terrific compliment to aforementioned 3D scanners and 3D printers… Or maybe just a great way to save some money by making your own jewelry”. Link.
